About Justin
Justin Gilbert built a path to law that began with numbers and ended in wills and trusts. He earned a B.S. in Finance from George Mason University in 2007 and completed his J.D. at Santa Clara University School of Law in 2010. The combination of finance and law framed his early approach to client work and shaped the kind of practice he would create.
He launched the Law Office of Justin M. Gilbert in 2011 and served as its principal lawyer. That solo practice gave him hands-on experience with estate planning, probate filings and client counseling. In 2017 he took the next step and became principal lawyer at Music City Estate Law. The move marked a shift from a one-lawyer shop to a practice with multiple locations and a broader local footprint.
Gilbert is licensed to practice in several jurisdictions. He holds admissions in California, Florida, Tennessee and the District of Columbia. That multi-state standing has allowed him to handle matters that touch more than one court system and to advise clients who have residences or assets in different states.
Locally, he is involved in bar activity. He has been a member of the Nashville Bar Association and the Williamson County Bar Association since 2017. He joined WealthCounsel in 2011, a professional network that serves lawyers who work in estate planning and related fields. Those memberships reflect the practical day-to-day work he handles for individuals and families.
Colleagues and clients describe his work as practical and detail-oriented. He routinely prepares estate plans, drafts wills and trusts, and assists with probate administration. He also advises on trust funding, beneficiary designations and guardianship matters that arise when families face incapacity or death. His background in finance informs how he approaches asset protection and tax-sensitive planning.
Music City Estate Law maintains offices in Franklin and Nashville. Gilbert has overseen cases and client matters from both locations since taking the principal role in 2017. He continues to practice in the areas of estate planning, trust administration and probate law from those offices.
