About John E.
John E. Simshauser began his legal journey at William Mitchell College of Law, earning his J.D. in 2006 after studying elder law and general business. Those areas of study shaped the early arc of his career and informed the positions he would take in both public-interest settings and the private sector.
Fresh out of law school, Simshauser took law clerk positions that brought him into contact with Minnesota’s elder and community services networks. In 2007 he served as a law clerk for the Minnesota Senior Federation. The following year he worked as a law clerk with MAO Legal Services. Those roles exposed him to client-facing matters and the mechanics of public-service legal work, including intake, advocacy, and case preparation.
In 2009 Simshauser opened Looking Forward Legal and served as Lawyer & Counselor at Law. That period marked his transition from clerking roles to client representation and practice management. Running a small practice required him to juggle case work, client relations, and the administrative side of a law office. Records show he provided counsel on issues consistent with his academic background in elder law and general business.
Two years later he moved into an in-house role. In 2011 he joined Audio Logic Systems as Director of Operations and Legal Counsel. In that capacity he combined operational responsibilities with legal oversight. The position placed him at the intersection of business operations and corporate compliance, and it expanded his day-to-day work beyond courtroom litigation to include contract review, vendor relations, and corporate governance tasks.
Throughout his career Simshauser has remained licensed in Minnesota. His résumé reflects a mix of public-interest experience and private-sector legal work, an uncommon combination that informs how he approaches client problems. He has navigated the different rhythms of solo practice and corporate counsel work, and he has handled matters that draw on elder law and commercial concerns alike.
Today he is listed at Audio Logic Systems, where he continues to handle legal matters tied to corporate operations as well as issues arising from his earlier elder law and general business training. He maintains an active presence in Minnesota legal circles and practices in the areas tied to his education and professional experience.
