About Joseph R.

Joseph R. Grippe built his legal foundation at the State University of New York at Albany, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science in 1999. He went on to study law at Quinnipiac University School of Law, completing his J.D. in 2006. The sequence of degrees set a steady course into private practice.

He began gaining courtroom and firm experience as a legal intern in 2005. The following year he entered private practice as a partner at Ouellette, Deganis, Gallagher & Grippe, LLC. That early move into partnership placed him in the thick of casework and firm management. After more than a decade there, he joined Bartlett & Grippe, LLC as a partner in 2022. The arc of his career shows continuity in firm-based practice and steady leadership roles.

Grippe is admitted in Connecticut and New York and is also admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. Those admissions allow him to represent clients in state courts across two states and in federal court in Connecticut. He has maintained a local professional presence as a member of the New Haven County Bar Association since 2006.

Colleagues describe him as pragmatic and direct in handling matters. He has handled the responsibilities typical of firm partners: client counseling, case strategy, and courtroom appearances. His background includes both front-line litigation tasks and the administrative duties that come with running a law office.

Clients and peers see continuity in his approach. He moved from an early internship into a partnership almost immediately after law school and has stayed in firm practice since. That stability has given him sustained exposure to the kinds of procedural and substantive issues that arise in multi-jurisdictional practice.

He now practices at Bartlett & Grippe, LLC. He represents clients in matters brought in Connecticut and New York and in the federal district court for Connecticut, and he maintains active involvement in the New Haven legal community. His current practice focuses on representing clients in state and federal proceedings.
