About John-David
John-David Coker completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland Global Campus in the United Kingdom, earning a Bachelor of Science in 2012. He went on to receive his J.D. from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in 2017. Those formative years set the foundation for a career split between litigation and courtroom work.
After law school, Coker moved into practice that placed him in both plaintiff and defense environments. In 2018 he worked at Stern & Eisenberg, where he gained early exposure to civil litigation and client-facing responsibilities. That role gave him experience in motions practice and case preparation, including work that required coordination with co-counsel and outside experts.
In 2021 Coker joined Cook Craig & Francuzenko, PLLC as an associate. His time there has been occupied by case development, discovery disputes, and courtroom appearances in state and federal settings. He has taken part in preliminary hearings and has prepared briefs for trial courts. Colleagues describe him as methodical in trial preparation and attentive to factual detail.
Coker is admitted to practice in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. He also holds admission to the Western District of Virginia and the Eastern District of Virginia, and he is admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. That range of jurisdictional access allows him to handle matters that move between state courts and federal forum, and to follow appeals when cases progress beyond trial courts.
Outside the office, Coker maintains an active connection to the legal community. He is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and has been involved with the Fairfax Bar Association since 2021. He also holds membership in the Virginia Association of Defense Lawyers beginning in 2021. Those memberships reflect a practice that engages both local bar activity and statewide professional networks.
Coker’s career path has been steady and practice-oriented. He combines courtroom work with written advocacy and handles cases across several state and federal jurisdictions. He currently practices at Cook Craig & Francuzenko, PLLC, where his work centers on litigation matters across Virginia and neighboring jurisdictions.
