About Jennifer Lloyd
Jennifer Lloyd Kelly earned her Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law in 1997 after completing an undergraduate degree in political science at the University of California, Davis in 1993. Her academic path placed her in two of California’s public universities at a time when the state’s legal and political landscape was shifting. She completed law school at a period that prepared a generation of lawyers for both courtroom work and transactional practice.
Kelly’s professional record includes work at Fenwick & West LLP. She has been associated with that firm, where she practices law amid a team of attorneys handling complex matters. Her time there has involved appearances and filings in multiple courts across the state and federal systems.
She is admitted to the State Bar of California and holds admission to several federal courts. Those federal admissions include the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California. These credentials allow her to represent clients in both trial-level and appellate matters across the breadth of the Ninth Circuit.
Colleagues describe Kelly as methodical in courtroom preparation and crisp in written advocacy. She is known around the office for clear brief-writing and for an attention to procedural detail. Her practice draws on the interconnectedness of state and federal procedures, and she often handles matters that cross jurisdictional lines.
Her background in political science and law gives her familiarity with statutory and regulatory frameworks, as well as litigation strategy. She keeps current on developments in federal practice rules that affect district and appellate court work. That attention to procedural change is a practical asset when cases move between trial and appellate phases.
Outside of court filings and hearings, Kelly’s work involves consulting with clients on strategy and litigation planning. She handles pretrial motion practice, prepares appellate briefs where appropriate, and manages the practical tasks of litigation calendars. She maintains active admissions across multiple federal venues to support clients whose matters require appearances in different districts.
Kelly continues to practice at Fenwick & West LLP. Her current practice focuses on representing clients in California state courts and in several federal courts, including the Ninth Circuit and district courts throughout California.
