About Jeffrey R.
Jeffrey R. Blair earned his law degree from West Virginia University. He entered the legal profession after completing his J.D., and his early work placed him inside the state’s highest court.
In 2014 he served as a judicial law clerk for the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals. That role involved legal research, drafting opinions and assisting judges on a wide range of matters. The experience gave him an inside view of appellate procedure and the cadence of state-level jurisprudence.
A year later he launched his own practice. As owner and lawyer at Blair Law Office, PLLC, he ran a small firm that provided direct representation to clients. Managing a solo or small-firm practice meant handling both courtroom work and the daily administrative duties of running a legal business. Those responsibilities broadened his practical understanding of case management and client advocacy.
In 2021 he moved into public defense. He worked as an assistant public defender for the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission. That position required day-to-day courtroom appearances, client interviews and negotiation on behalf of people charged with crimes. The work sharpened his trial skills and reinforced his familiarity with criminal procedure in Virginia courts.
He later joined The Law Offices of Daniel J. Miller as a lawyer in 2022. There he has continued to represent individuals in contested matters. His background in appellate clerkship, private practice and public defense gives him a mix of perspectives on litigation strategy and courtroom practice.
Blair is admitted to practice in both West Virginia and Virginia. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar. That dual admission allows him to assist clients across state lines, particularly where legal matters touch on issues in both jurisdictions.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in his preparation and straightforward in court. He has handled a range of tasks that include trial advocacy, appellate research and the practical work of running client files. Those experiences inform how he approaches a case — careful preparation followed by clear presentation to judges and juries.
As of 2026 he practices at The Law Offices of Daniel J. Miller and represents clients in trial and appellate matters in West Virginia and Virginia.
