About Jeffrey A.
Jeffrey A. Dowd earned his J.D. from the University of Akron School of Law in 1996, having studied business law and wills, trusts and estates. His legal education included coursework that prepared him for both transactional work and estate matters. Those subjects have returned repeatedly in his career.
He began practicing soon after law school. In 1997 he worked as a lawyer at Spiegel & Utrera, P.A., where he handled routine client matters and learned the practical rhythms of a small firm. By 2002 he was running his own practice as managing lawyer of Jeffrey A. Dowd, P.A., an early iteration of the private practice he would return to later. Those early years mixed courtroom appearances with contract drafting and client counseling.
The next phase of his career moved into corporate roles. From 2009 to 2011 he served in positions labeled corporate counsel and regional or sales manager with P & C Westerkamp, LLC and C & P Westerkamp, LLC. In 2011 he was corporate counsel for Werever Products, Inc., with responsibilities that combined legal oversight and business development tasks. This stretch broadened his work beyond individual client matters into regulatory compliance, commercial agreements and operational issues for businesses.
In 2016 he adopted the title of managing lawyer at The Law Office of Jeffrey Dowd, P.A. That role reflects both his years in-house and his earlier private-practice experience. He has handled matters that draw on his law school training in business law and in wills, trusts and estates. His practice has included probate administration, drafting of estate planning documents and representation of small and midsize businesses in contract and corporate matters.
Dowd maintains memberships in several professional associations, including the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Brandon Bar Association, each listing his membership from 2016 to the present. He also has maintained a bar membership recorded since 1996. He currently practices from The Law Office of Jeffrey Dowd, P.A., handling business law, estate planning and probate matters.
