About Jason
Jason Knight studied at Emerson College, graduating in 1998, and went on to earn his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 2002. He entered the legal field at a time when local courts were seeing steady change. That early training gave him the tools to move between public service and private practice over the next two decades.
His early professional steps were in Rhode Island. In 2005 he worked as a contract lawyer at Ferrucci Russo P.C. in Providence. The following year he served as a Special Assistant Lawyer General for the RI Department of Lawyer General. Those roles exposed him to courtroom work and the mechanics of state-level legal practice.
In 2010 he opened his own firm, The Law Office of Jason Knight. He has run that practice since then, handling cases and managing the daily demands of a small firm. Running a solo practice sharpened his judgment about case selection and client communication. It also required balancing courtroom work with administrative responsibilities.
Knight’s professional affiliations reflect an interest in criminal defense and the local bar community. He has been a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association since 2005. Since 2010 he has served as Communications Director for the Rhode Island Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. That role has kept him engaged in the network of defense attorneys across the state and involved in conversations about policy, training, and public outreach.
He is licensed in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, which allows him to appear in courts in both states. Over the years he has handled matters that take him into Rhode Island courtrooms regularly, and he occasionally deals with issues that cross state lines. His background includes experience in both government work and private defense practice, and he brings that perspective to client matters.
Colleagues describe him as a straightforward practitioner who values clear explanation and practical options for clients. His work at the firm has emphasized direct client contact, careful case preparation, and a willingness to take cases to trial when necessary. He has combined courtroom practice with behind-the-scenes efforts in professional organizations.
He practices from the Law Office of Jason Knight and continues to be active in Rhode Island’s legal community. His current practice centers on criminal defense and related matters.
