About Brett V.

Brett V. Beaubien earned his law degree from Roger Williams University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2016. He arrived on campus after undergraduate studies and finished law school at a time when Rhode Island courts were handling a number of high-profile procedural shifts. The classroom work and clinic placements at Roger Williams gave him exposure to trial practice and client counseling early in his career.

His first position after law school was as a judicial law clerk at the Rhode Island Workers Compensation Court in 2016. That year in the courthouse introduced him to administrative procedure and the mechanics of litigation in a specialized forum. The clerkship also offered a close view of how judges weigh evidence and write opinions — experience that informs how he prepares cases today.

In 2017 he opened The Law Office of Brett V. Beaubien, LLC and began practicing criminal defense. He has handled matters in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. His work ranges from routine arraignments to more complex hearings. Where appropriate, he challenges evidence, negotiates on behalf of clients, and represents them at trial. He combines courtroom work with case preparation outside of it.

Public service runs alongside his private practice. He was appointed an associate judge on the Town of Warren Municipal Court in 2020. He has served on the Town of Warren Planning Board since 2018. Those roles require regular hearings, fact-finding, and written rulings or recommendations. They also keep him tied to local government and municipal procedure.

Beaubien is active in professional circles. He has been a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association since 2016 and joined the State Bar of Massachusetts in 2017. He has held an officer role as treasurer for the Rhode Island Legal Education Foundation since 2017. From 2022 to 2024 he served as president of the Roger Williams University School of Law Alumni Association Board of Directors, coordinating alumni outreach and events for the law school.

He manages a small firm that focuses on criminal defense work while maintaining involvement in local courts and boards. He represents clients in matters arising in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts and continues to handle cases through his office in the region.
