About James F.

James F. Donohue earned his J.D. from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1988 following a B.A. in History and Political Science from Iona College in 1986. Those academic years laid a foundation in legal reasoning and historical perspective that he carried into practice.

He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and holds admissions in several federal forums, including the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Those credentials allow him to handle matters at both trial and appellate levels.

Donohue serves as Of Counsel at Joe Pometto Law. In that role he provides advice on matters brought in the courts to which he is admitted and supports litigation that proceeds through federal and state procedures. The title reflects a position that often combines case work with strategic counsel for the firm’s clients.

He maintains current membership in the State Bar of Pennsylvania. That standing keeps him connected to the procedural and ethical developments that shape practice in the state. It also positions him to accept cases that require local bar admission and familiarity with Pennsylvania court rules.

Admissions to the Third Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court are notable in that they permit representation at higher appellate levels. Donohue’s practice therefore spans a range of proceedings, from district-court litigation to appellate briefing and court appearances when needed. His court admissions give him the procedural reach to follow a matter through several stages of review.

Colleagues describe his approach as steady and precise. He integrates the historical and political studies of his undergraduate years with the practical training of law school. That mix shapes how he evaluates legal questions and prepares filings.

Over the years his work has involved cases filed in both federal district courts and state jurisdictions. He brings the procedural knowledge that those forums demand to his role at Joe Pometto Law. He balances courtroom preparedness with written advocacy when matters advance beyond initial filings.

He continues to practice actively at Joe Pometto Law. His current practice centers on representing clients in matters filed in state and federal courts.
