Hubert E. Hamilton III, known as "Hu," retired from the practice of law on December 31, 2022, after a distinguished 46-year career. He founded The Hamilton Firm in 1998, initially located on Rossville Boulevard near the Georgia-Tennessee state line, serving clients in Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama. In 2012, the firm relocated to its current address at 2401 Broad Street, Suite 102, Chattanooga, TN 37408. The firm specializes in personal injury cases, particularly truck accidents, and other catastrophic injury and death cases.

A native of Macon, Georgia, Hamilton earned his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University in 1973. He then pursued his Juris Doctor at Mercer University Walter F — George School of Law, graduating in 1976. Shortly after passing the Georgia bar, he began his legal career in Macon, Georgia. In 1987, he expanded his practice by becoming licensed in Tennessee, and in 2018, he was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar. Throughout his career, Hamilton was recognized for his expertise in personal injury and products liability law.

He was a member of the American Association for Justice and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. His firm, The Hamilton Firm, was known for handling complex cases involving truck accidents and other severe injuries.
