About Herbert

Herbert Cohen earned a B.A. in zoology from George Washington University’s Mount Vernon campus and a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1990. He moved from the sciences into law during his academic career. The shift set the course for a practice focused on injury law in Pennsylvania.

After law school, Cohen built a practice that centers on workers’ compensation and personal injury matters. He is the owner of Colarusso and Cohen, LLC, a firm based in downtown Pittsburgh. Over the years he has handled a wide range of claims arising from workplace injuries and accidents in public and private settings.

Cohen’s caseload includes traditional workers’ compensation claims as well as personal injury suits. He represents clients injured in premises liability incidents, motor vehicle collisions, product defects, and construction accidents. He handles both agency proceedings and civil litigation when a claimant’s case moves beyond administrative hearings.

His approach to cases is pragmatic. He assesses medical records and loss reports, works with treating physicians, and prepares cases for hearing or trial. He has represented claimants before state workers’ compensation judges and in the civil courts where necessary. Cohen’s practice emphasizes securing benefits and damages that reflect an injured person’s medical needs and economic losses.

Cohen holds membership in the Pennsylvania State Bar. He maintains an office in downtown Pittsburgh where he meets clients and handles court filings. The firm’s location positions him to work on matters throughout the commonwealth and to appear before regional workers’ compensation tribunals and courts.

Colarusso and Cohen, LLC functions as the vehicle for his practice, where he handles case intake, development, and advocacy. He coordinates with medical professionals, vocational experts, and opposing counsel. He also supervises case strategy and client communications, roles typical for a firm principal.

Throughout his career Cohen has focused on the intersection of workplace safety and civil accountability. He represents a spectrum of injured workers and accident victims and pursues remedies through administrative claims and civil actions when appropriate. He currently practices from an office in downtown Pittsburgh, focusing on workers' compensation and personal injury matters.
