About H. Leon

H. Leon Hewitt took an unusual route to the law. He began his professional education at the University of Michigan, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1982. Nearly two decades later he returned to school and graduated from the University of Dayton School of Law in 2000. The shift from pharmacy to law shapes how he approaches problems. He thinks about rules and about systems. He also brings a scientific sensibility to legal analysis.

After finishing law school in 2000, Hewitt moved quickly into practice. He has been a lawyer since that year and took on ownership responsibilities early in his career. He established a practice that later became Hewitt Foster Legal Group, Ltd. Over time he built a solo and small-firm practice model that emphasizes direct client contact and hands-on case work. He is admitted to practice in Ohio and is authorized to appear before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Membership in professional organizations has been a steady part of his professional life. Hewitt has belonged to the Cincinnati Bar Association since 2000. He joined the Black Lawyers Association of Cincinnati in 2015 and remains an active member. Those affiliations keep him connected to local legal developments and the broader bar community. He participates in association activities that bring attorneys together across practice areas.

Hewitt’s pharmacy background informs his legal view. It offers a different perspective on cases that touch on health, regulation, or technical evidence. He uses that training when evaluating expert testimony and reviewing medical or pharmaceutical records. At the same time he handles the everyday demands of litigation and client counseling. His work ranges from courtroom matters to transactional and advisory tasks for individuals and small businesses.

Colleagues describe him as pragmatic and detail-oriented. He tends to favor clear language and practical planning. He prefers to solve problems through careful preparation. That approach is visible in how his office organizes files and how he frames cases for clients and courts.

He maintains an office as part of Hewitt Foster Legal Group, Ltd. in Cincinnati. He continues to practice in the Ohio courts and in federal appeals within the Sixth Circuit. His current practice focuses on litigation and legal issues where his combined pharmacy and legal training are useful.
