About Gregory
Gregory McKeithen built a legal foundation over decades of study and practice. He earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, completing that degree in 1984. He then attended Stetson University College of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1989. Later in his career he returned to technical schooling at Gwinnett Technical College, earning multiple A.A. degrees in fields including microcomputer systems, networking, information security, accounting and cybersecurity between 2002 and 2021.
Fresh out of law school, McKeithen began working in public prosecution. In 1990 he served as an assistant district lawyer in Fulton County. That early experience placed him in courtrooms and on investigative teams, shaping his approach to casework. He later joined the military legal community, serving as a Judge Advocate General for the Department of the Navy in 1995. The JAG role added military law and administrative experience to his background.
By 1998 he returned to county-level prosecution as an assistant district lawyer in Gwinnett County. Over the next several years his practice shifted toward defense. In 2006 he established McKeithen Law, LLC and began representing people charged with crimes. The move to private practice represented a change in perspective but kept him in the same field of law. His career thus spans both sides of criminal cases: state prosecution and private defense.
Beyond his law degrees, McKeithen has pursued technical training that sets him apart among trial lawyers. His A.A. credentials in cybersecurity, information security, networking and microcomputer systems reflect an interest in digital systems and data. He also holds an A.A. in accounting. Those qualifications give him additional tools when cases involve financial records, electronic evidence or technical discovery. He has handled matters that required attention to both legal procedure and technical detail.
Colleagues and clients describe him as steady and pragmatic. He focuses on courtroom preparation, factual investigation and the mechanics of trial work. He has handled a range of criminal matters at the county level and has experience interacting with investigative agencies and prosecutors from his earlier public-service roles.
McKeithen remains based in Georgia and practices through McKeithen Law, LLC. He currently practices criminal defense at McKeithen Law, LLC, concentrating on cases in Georgia.
