About Grant K.

Grant K. Usry is an attorney whose path to the courtroom was shaped by study and early courtroom work. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from the University of Georgia in 2000 after beginning his undergraduate studies in 1996. He later attended Florida Coastal School of Law, completing his Juris Doctor in 2009. Those years of study preceded a decade and a half in practice that has spanned both prosecution and defense roles.

Usry began his legal career in the Augusta Judicial Circuit, joining the District Attorneys Office as an assistant district lawyer in 2010. The experience placed him on the trial calendar and in front of juries. He moved into private practice that same year as an associate at Durham Law Office, P.C., where he handled a range of criminal matters and gained further trial experience.

In 2020 he started his own firm, listed as The USRY FIRM, P.C. There he shifted fully into defense work. His memberships reflect that professional direction. He has been a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2015 and joined the National College of DUI Defense in 2020. He has also held membership in the Augusta Bar Association since 2009. Those associations inform his practice and keep him engaged with other lawyers who handle criminal and DUI matters.

Usry is admitted to practice in Georgia and before the Eleventh Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. That combination of state and federal admissions means he has handled appeals and federal filings in addition to trial-level work. His background on both sides of the aisle gives him perspective in plea negotiations, trial preparation and appellate briefing.

Colleagues and court files show a lawyer who has spent years handling criminal cases at multiple stages. He has represented clients in misdemeanor and felony matters, and he handles DUI-related cases as part of his practice. The record reflects courtroom appearances, evidentiary hearings and appellate filings.

He operates his practice from The USRY FIRM, P.C., where he represents individuals in criminal defense and DUI matters. His current practice focuses on defending clients in criminal cases, including DUI-related charges.
