About Frank N.
Frank N. Lago brings an uncommon mix of military, government and academic experience to his legal practice. He moved through several fields before settling into tax and corporate law, and his résumé reflects a steady progression from enlisted service to law firm owner.
Lago’s academic path began with an A.A.S. from Cochise College in 2009. He earned a B.A. from the State University of New York - Empire State College in 2011. He completed his J.D. at Stetson University College of Law in 2014 and then pursued an LL.M. in Taxation at Georgetown University Law Center, which he finished in 2015.
His early career was shaped by military service. In 2002 he served in the United States Army as a soldier and later as a Human Intelligence Platoon Sergeant and Interrogation Team Leader. That role demanded discipline, attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information—skills he later applied in federal revenue work.
Lago joined the Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Officer in 2009. At the IRS he worked on tax collection and enforcement matters, gaining firsthand exposure to audit and collection processes. That experience preceded his move into private legal practice and informed his decision to study tax law at the graduate level.
After completing his LL.M., he entered private practice. In 2015 he worked at Walk Law Office, PA. He also taught as an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida in 2016, splitting time between classroom instruction and client work. In 2018 he opened Bay Area Corporate Counsel and serves as its principal lawyer and owner.
Lago maintains memberships that align with his practice areas, including the Florida Bar Tax Section, the American Bar Association’s Taxation Section and The Florida Bar. Those affiliations reflect ongoing engagement with developments in tax law and professional standards in Florida.
In practice he handles tax controversy and compliance matters, advises businesses on transactional issues, and represents clients in dealings with tax authorities. His background at the IRS gives him a practical understanding of revenue procedures. His teaching experience also informs how he explains complex tax concepts to clients and colleagues.
He is based in Florida and practices at Bay Area Corporate Counsel, where his work centers on tax and corporate matters.
