About Francis Patrick

Francis Patrick Walker built his path to the bar through an unusual route. He began with a political science degree at the University of Utah and spent time studying Mandarin in China before turning to law in Idaho. Those early experiences shaped a practice that moves between local courtrooms and federal dockets.

He earned a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Utah in 2010. After that he studied Mandarin at Dalian Maritime University and received a Chinese Speaking Certificate in 2011. He returned to the United States for law school and completed his J.D. at the University of Idaho College of Law in 2015.

Walker entered practice the same year he finished law school. In 2015 he worked as an associate at Susan Lynn Mimura & Associates, PLLC and also took on contract work for Truscott Law. Three years later he joined Goss Gustavel Goss, PLLC as an associate lawyer in 2018. Those positions exposed him to litigation and bankruptcy matters across state and federal forums.

He is admitted to practice in Idaho and appears in federal and bankruptcy courts. That credential set allows him to handle matters that cross jurisdictional lines. It also places him where procedural rules and federal practice dominate the calendar.

His academic background gives him a particular lens on legal disputes. A political science undergraduate education offers grounding in institutions and statutory interpretation. Study of Mandarin and time abroad add a layer of language and cultural familiarity that can be useful in cases touching on international elements or non-English documentation.

Colleagues describe Walker as methodical in preparing filings and pragmatic in courtroom settings. He has experience drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and arguing motions in federal and bankruptcy court. He has moved between short-term contract roles and longer associate positions, which has resulted in exposure to a range of case types and practice models.

He balances courtroom work with research and client counseling. His trajectory—Utah undergraduate, study in China, Idaho law school, and early-career roles at small and mid-size firms—reflects a willingness to move where work requires. He currently focuses his practice on bankruptcy and federal litigation in Idaho.
