About Faison T.

Faison T. Sessoms studied political science at Saint Olaf College and graduated with a B.A. in 1970. He went on to earn his J.D. from Drake University Law School in 1977. Those academic steps set the stage for a career that has spanned public service and private practice across state and federal forums.

He entered government work soon after law school. In 1977 he joined the Attorney General's Office as an Assistant Lawyer General. Two years later he moved to county-level practice as an Assistant County Lawyer in the Polk County Lawyer's Office. Those early roles gave him courtroom time and the steady, case-based learning that often comes with representing the state and county in criminal matters.

Sessoms is admitted to practice in Minnesota and Iowa and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Over the decades his caseload has centered on criminal defense, with particular emphasis on driving-while-intoxicated cases. He handles trial work and related hearings, and he has experience in appeals that reach the federal appellate level.

Professional associations have been a visible part of his career. He served as president of the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2013. He has also served as president of the Minnesota Society of Criminal Justice. Those leadership roles reflect sustained engagement with the legal community and ongoing work on behalf of lawyers who practice criminal defense in the state.

In private practice he operates under the name F.T. Sessoms Minnesota DWI Lawyer. The practice focuses on DWI defense and other criminal matters. He continues to accept client work and to appear in state and federal courts on behalf of those clients. He maintains memberships in local professional groups and remains active in the circles that shape criminal defense practice in Minnesota and neighboring jurisdictions.

He currently practices at F.T. Sessoms Minnesota DWI Lawyer, where he concentrates on DWI defense and related criminal matters.
