About Erin D.

Erin D. Brooks moved from social work into law over the course of a decade-long academic journey. She earned a bachelor's degree from Manhattan College in 2012, completed a Master of Social Work at New York University in 2014, and received her Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2020. The sequence of degrees maps a path from community-based practice to courtroom work.

Her early years in social work shaped how she approaches client problems. Training at NYU emphasized assessment, systems-level thinking and client advocacy. Those skills carried into law school, where she combined legal research and advocacy training with an interest in cases that touch on real people's lives.

After graduating from law school in 2020, Brooks joined Silverman Thompson as a lawyer. She is licensed to practice in Maryland and is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. At the firm she works alongside more senior lawyers on litigation matters and contributes to case preparation, pleadings and court filings. Colleagues say she brings steady attention to factual detail and procedural deadlines.

Brooks's background gives her a perspective some clients find useful when matters involve sensitive factual or personal circumstances. She is experienced in drafting written submissions and preparing matters for argument. In court she handles filings in both state and federal arenas, and she participates in client meetings, discovery and pretrial work.

Outside the courtroom, her academic record reflects an interest in how social systems and legal rules interact. That interest appears in her casework, where she often assesses the broader context surrounding a client's legal issue rather than treating the dispute as abstract points of law. Her approach tends to be methodical: gather the facts, identify procedural paths, then set out persuasive arguments grounded in the record.

Brooks continues to practice at Silverman Thompson. She represents clients in matters before Maryland state and federal courts.
