About Elinor
Elinor Hitt moved through three distinct academic stages before entering the courtroom. She earned a B.S. in Education from the University of Georgia in 1993 and returned to the same university for a Master of Social Work in 1996. A decade later she completed her J.D. at Georgia State University College of Law in 2007. Those credentials reflect a background in both education and social work alongside formal legal training.
Her legal career began immediately after law school. In 2007 she joined McGough, Huddleston & Medori as an associate. The next year she became a partner at Warner Bates, a role she held for more than a decade. In 2021 she took on a partner position at Kaye, Lembeck, Hitt & French Family Law, a firm that bears her name and where she remains active today.
Hitt’s practice tracks a steady movement into family law. Over the years she has handled matters that commonly arise in that field. Her portfolio includes divorce proceedings, child custody disputes, child support issues and property division. She works in contested settings and in alternative dispute processes. Colleagues describe her approach as pragmatic; she tends to combine legal analysis with an awareness of the personal dynamics that often accompany family-law cases.
Professional associations have been a constant part of her career. She is admitted to practice in Georgia and holds membership in the State Bar of Georgia. She joined the Atlanta Bar Association in 2008 and became active in the DeKalb Bar Association in 2015 and the Cobb Bar Association in 2020. Since 2006 she has been involved with the Weltner Family Law Inn of Court, where she serves on the executive committee and has held the position of chairperson.
Hitt also plays a role in organizations that support women in the profession. She has been on the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers Foundation Board since 2020 and joined the association’s board in 2021. Those positions put her in regular contact with programming and mentoring efforts aimed at newer attorneys and those balancing law with other life responsibilities.
She is based at Kaye, Lembeck, Hitt & French Family Law and continues to practice law in Georgia. Her current practice concentrates on family law at Kaye, Lembeck, Hitt & French Family Law.
