About Edward J. Kelbon

Edward J. Kelbon Jr. built a legal career that moves between courtrooms and classrooms. He earned a B.S. from Drexel University in 1980 and returned to Philadelphia to complete a J.D. at Temple University in 1992. Those academic years set the stage for a practice centered on trial work and professional education.

Kelbon entered private practice in the early 1990s and became a partner at Saul Ewing LLP in 1993. He later joined Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney as a partner in 2005, then moved to Reger Rizzo & Darnall LLP as a partner in 2009. Since 2020 he has held a partner position at CKL Law Group LLP. The sequence of firm moves traces a steady career in regional firms that handle litigation and counsel clients across state and federal forums.

He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and he is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Those admissions have underpinned a practice that routinely engages federal and state court procedures.

Outside of client work, Kelbon has invested time in trial advocacy education. He is a fellow of the Temple University Academy of Trial Advocacy and serves on the faculty of both the National Business Institute and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. Earlier in his career he belonged to the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel from 1994 until 2009, a period that overlapped with significant litigation work for transportation interests and other litigants.

Colleagues describe his professional life as split between trial practice and training other lawyers. He has taught trial techniques to practicing attorneys and law students, and he has taken those practical lessons back into his courtroom work. His experience in multiple firms and federal courts informs how he prepares for complex hearings and appeals.

Kelbon’s career reflects a mix of courtroom practice and legal education that has persisted for more than three decades. He practices at CKL Law Group LLP and concentrates on courtroom practice and litigation matters.
