About Debra J.
Debra J. Cohn moved into law after an undergraduate degree in political science. She earned her J.D. from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2007, following a B.A. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2003. Those years framed a steady entry into the New York legal community.
She began her legal career as an associate at The Law Offices of Janis M. Noto in 2007. That role gave her early responsibility for client work and courtroom preparation. It was a formative period that established the daily routines of case management, client counseling and the adversarial work of litigation.
In 2014 she stepped out on her own and opened the Law Office of Debra Cohn. Running a solo practice required a different set of skills. She balanced casework with the administrative demands of operating an office. Client intake, billing, and the practicalities of small-firm life became part of her professional rhythm.
Two years later she joined Tully Rinckey PLLC as a managing partner. That move placed her in a leadership position inside a larger firm structure. As managing partner she handled oversight responsibilities, coordinated staff, and engaged in strategic decision-making. The position deepened her experience in firm management while keeping her connected to hands-on client matters.
Cohn has maintained ties to the regional bar. She is a member of the Broome County Bar Association and has held membership since 2008. Her career has remained anchored in New York, reflecting long-term involvement in local legal networks and professional organizations.
Her path through both small-firm ownership and firm leadership illustrates a career built on practical experience. She combines years of client representation with managerial work inside a practice. She currently focuses her practice on serving clients in New York.
