David Khaled Uthman is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1995. His license is currently in active status. He has been practicing law for over 30 years, serving clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Mr. Uthman earned his Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1994. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, San Francisco, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1990. During his time at Santa Clara University, he was recognized as a Public Interest Law Scholar, reflecting his commitment to serving the community.
Mr. Uthman concentrates his practice in the areas of criminal defense, DMV representation, DUI defense, and traffic law. He represents individuals facing charges such as drug crimes, theft, violent crimes, and domestic violence. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts. He also handles administrative proceedings at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), assisting clients with issues related to license suspension or revocation.
Throughout his career, Mr. Uthman has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Francisco, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as a police officer and deputy sheriff with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office for nearly a decade. His assignments included serving as a field training officer, SWAT team member, dive team member, and court bailiff. He retired from law enforcement to pursue a legal career.
Mr. Uthman is an active member of the California State Bar Association. He has received several awards and certifications, including being named a Top 100 Criminal Defense Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers in 2017 and recognized by the American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys as a Top 10 Best Criminal Defense Attorney for Exceptional and Outstanding Client Service in 2017.
