About Evan St.

Evan St. John earned his B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009, where he studied English and Linguistics. He went on to law school at The George Washington University, completing his J.D. in 2013. Those years show a steady progression from liberal arts into legal training, and set the stage for a mix of government and private-sector work that followed.

During law school he accumulated a string of internships in federal and local government offices. He worked at the U.S. Department of Labor’s Civil Rights Center in the Office of Internal Enforcement and spent time in the U.S. Marshals Service Office of General Counsel. He also served as a statutory volunteer with the U.S. Army’s Office of the Judge Advocate, and contributed to The Constitution Project’s Task Force on Detainee Treatment. Locally, he interned in the Homicide Department of the State’s Lawyer’s Office for Prince George’s County and worked on terrorism and international takings litigation as a summer associate with the Perles Law Office in 2011.

After law school St. John moved into private practice. He began his career in 2013 as an associate at P.K. Hammar Legal, P.C., and the following year joined Nydam Law Practice, PC as an associate. Those early years in small-firm settings gave him hands-on experience handling a range of matters and working directly with clients. In 2021 he took on a senior corporate lawyer role at General Counsel, P.C., where his title reflects a shift toward transactional and in-house style corporate work.

St. John’s background spans government enforcement and corporate law. The government internships exposed him to enforcement procedures, litigation support and questions around detainee treatment and civil rights. The small-firm associate roles involved regular client counseling and case management. His more recent corporate role has emphasized commercial transactions, corporate governance and internal legal operations. The combination of public-sector exposure and private practice work informs how he approaches problems: attentive to procedure, and conscious of business and reputational considerations.

He is authorized to practice in Virginia. Currently he works at General Counsel, P.C., where he serves as a senior corporate lawyer handling corporate matters and related legal work in the Commonwealth of Virginia. His current practice focuses on corporate law and in-house legal services.
