About Cynthia Theresa
Cynthia Theresa Runge studied mass communications at Boston University before turning to the law. She earned her J.D. from Whittier Law School and brought a communications background into legal training. That combination shaped an early interest in dispute resolution and client counseling.
Runge opened her own practice in 2001, founding the Law Office of Cynthia T. Runge as a sole proprietor. A decade later she took on an of counsel role at Healy, Fiske, Richmond & Matthew in 2011. Those years gave her experience both running a small firm and working alongside other practitioners in a shared environment.
Her practice is based in two jurisdictions. She is licensed in New York and in Massachusetts. Over time she concentrated on family matters and alternative dispute resolution. Her work includes negotiation, settlement planning and court representation when cases move beyond negotiation.
Mediation has been a steady part of her professional development. Runge completed multiple mediation programs: basic mediation training and divorce mediation training through Mediation Works, Inc.; family mediation training through Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education; and marital mediation training with instructors John Fiske and Laurie Israel. The trainings signal sustained attention to mediated approaches rather than sudden specialization.
Colleagues and clients describe a lawyer who moves between roles. She operates her own office while maintaining ties to other firms in an of counsel capacity. That arrangement has allowed her to handle individual client matters and to assist larger practices on family law and mediation cases. She has handled intake, case planning and the drafting of settlement agreements alongside courtroom appearances when necessary.
Her background in communications informs how she approaches client talks and negotiations. She places emphasis on clear explanation of options, careful drafting of agreements and preparing clients for possible outcomes. She brings the training she completed to sessions that aim to reduce contention and reach enforceable resolutions.
Runge continues to practice through the Law Office of Cynthia T. Runge, operating across Massachusetts and New York and concentrating on family law, mediation and related matters.
