About Courtney

Courtney Mehta arrived at the law after a broad study of politics at the University of Illinois. She earned a B.A. in political science in 2008 and then went on to Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she completed her J.D. in 2011. Her academic path reflects a steady interest in the rules and institutions that shape public life.

She is licensed to practice in Illinois and has spent her career working in the state's legal community. Early on she joined local and state bar groups. Those memberships connected her to judges, family law practitioners, and court personnel in the Will County and wider Illinois circuits. The relationships helped her settle into courtroom work and alternative dispute resolution.

Mehta’s work in professional associations has been a visible thread through her career. She has been a member of the Illinois State Bar Association since 2011 and joined the Will County Bar Association the same year. Since 2018 she has served as Co-Chair of the Will County Bar Association’s Guardian ad Litem Committee. In that role she has overseen training programs and helped shape local procedures used when courts appoint guardians for children and vulnerable adults.

Her professional certifications mirror that committee work. The Twelfth Judicial Circuit of Illinois has approved her as a mediator and as a guardian ad litem. Those credentials allow her to serve in court-appointed roles and to offer mediation services in family and probate matters. She frequently works on cases where a neutral evaluator or a court-appointed guardian can change how a dispute resolves.

Mehta’s practice blends courtroom advocacy and alternative dispute resolution. She works on matters that often involve child welfare, custody, and family law questions where a guardian may be necessary. Court appointments, mediation sessions, and cooperative settlement efforts occupy much of her time. Colleagues describe her as methodical in preparing reports and practical when participating in settlement discussions.

She practices at Henderson & Mehta Law and Mediation Center, where she handles client matters and performs court-related appointments. Her current practice focuses on family law, guardianship matters, and mediation work in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit of Illinois.
