About Todd J.
Todd J. Polito built a varied professional life before and after law school. He returned to formal studies after an early career in the service and hospitality sectors, earning a B.S. from Northern Illinois University in 2007 and a J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in 2012. His studies at Illinois State University in the mid-1990s included work in business and finance, a background that surfaces in the practical way he approaches casework.
His early career began in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Maintenance Administration Specialist. He moved into hotel management in the 1990s as a general manager for Marriott International. Those roles preceded involvement in local civic work; he served on the board of the Greater Woodfield Convention and Visitors Bureau in 1999. He returned to the legal world as a clerk and intern during law school, including time with the Kane County State's Attorney’s Office and as a judicial intern for the 18th Judicial Circuit Court in Wheaton, Illinois.
After law school he held a mix of roles in both private practice and in-house arrangements. In 2013 he worked as associate counsel at Tedone & Morton, P.C., and did contract legal work for Allstate. By 2017 he was listed as a lawyer at McNamara Phelan McSteen, LLC. Those positions added trial and litigation exposure as well as hands-on client work. The combination of public sector internships and private practice assignments gave him a rounded view of courtroom procedure and case management.
Polito keeps active in the Illinois legal community. He holds memberships in the Will County Bar Association and the DuPage County Bar Association, and he is a member of the Family Law Section of the Illinois State Bar Association. He also participates in the Chicago Bar Association’s Wills for Heroes program, a volunteer effort tied to social services. Those memberships reflect an attorney engaged with both local bar activity and community-oriented legal programs.
Colleagues describe his background as practical and straight-forward. He draws on earlier management experience and military service when handling scheduling, client communication, and the logistics of litigation. He has experience across civil and family matters and an interest in cases that benefit from organized case preparation and attention to procedural detail.
He currently practices as a lawyer at McNamara Phelan McSteen, LLC in Illinois, where his work includes family law and related civil matters.
