About Cheri

Cheri Hobbs practices law out of Compass Law and brings a steady, organized approach to a practice shaped by formal study and local bar leadership. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Pre-Law from the University of Central Florida in 2003 after beginning her undergraduate work in 1999. She continued her legal education at Florida State University College of Law and received her J.D. in 2006.

Her academic path led directly into a career concentrated on family law. Early on she immersed herself in the professional organizations that steer local practice standards. She is a member of the American Bar Association and of the Central Florida Family Law Inn, organizations that provide a forum for continuing education and for the exchange of practical strategies among practitioners.

Hobbs has taken visible roles inside the Orange County legal community. She served as Past-Chair of the Family Law Committee of the Orange County Bar Association, a position that entailed organizing committee work and helping to set programming for colleagues. That leadership role placed her at the center of conversations about local procedure and resources for family-law practitioners.

Outside the courthouse she is active in civic life. She serves on the Club Foundation Board of the Orange County East - Winter Park Rotary. That community involvement sits alongside her professional affiliations and reflects a practice that extends into neighborhood institutions and voluntary organizations.

Her admitted jurisdiction includes the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. That admission complements her trial- and bench-level work and informs how she prepares cases when appellate issues arise. Colleagues describe her as methodical, and she is known for attention to documentation and to the practical details that matter in family-law matters.

At Compass Law she handles a caseload that draws on her committee experience and her bar activities. She participates in professional education and mentoring through the bar and regional inn of court gatherings. Her work combines courtroom advocacy, case management and client advising in family law.

She currently practices family law at Compass Law, handling family-law matters and participating in bar and community organizations that shape how those matters are litigated and resolved.
