About Andrew F.
Andrew F. Nickolaou built his legal foundation in Florida. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida and a Juris Doctor from Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law. Those years supplied classroom training and access to local courts that shaped his early direction.
Early in his career he took on a series of clerkships and internships that exposed him to courtroom procedure and case preparation. In 2009 he served as a judicial intern at the Ninth Circuit Court in Orange County, Florida, and held law clerk positions that year at the United States Lawyer s Office and at Katz & Phillips, PA. At Katz & Phillips he worked in multiple roles including associate lawyer, paralegal and law clerk, a combination that gave him experience on both the legal and administrative sides of practice.
In 2016 he became an owner and lawyer at Bernal-Mora & Nickolaou, P.A. That step moved him from staff roles to running a practice and advising clients directly. His work has involved contested matters in family and criminal court. He has handled proceedings that range from custody and support issues to criminal charges where trial preparation and courtroom presence are essential.
He has taken active roles in several professional groups. He has been a member of the American Bar Association since 2009 and is involved in the Florida Bar's Criminal Law Section and Trial Lawyers Section. He also belongs to the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division, the Orange County Bar Association and the Central Florida Family Law American Inn of Court. His memberships include the National College of DUI Defense and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and he participates as a guardian ad litem with the Legal Aid Society.
Those associations reflect the mix of family and criminal law matters that mark his practice. He operates from Orlando and draws on courtroom experience, clerkship background and years of client work to manage cases for individuals and families. His current practice centers on family law and criminal defense, including DUI defense and guardian ad litem representation.
