About Charles

Charles Ormsby earned his undergraduate degree from Franklin & Marshall College in 1980 and completed his J.D. at The George Washington University Law School in 1983. He left law school equipped for courtroom work and the practice of law in a changing legal landscape. Those academic years shaped a steady legal career that began in the early 1980s.

He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions reflect a practice that touches both state and federal systems. Over time he built experience handling matters that require navigation of procedural and substantive rules across court levels.

Ormsby began practicing law after graduation and has worked in private practice ever since. He has handled litigation and client counseling across a range of proceedings in Pennsylvania courts. The record of steady practice in the state courts has informed his approach to case preparation, strategy and courtroom presentation.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and attentive to procedural detail. He has represented clients at trial and on appeal, and his admission to the U.S. Supreme Court allows him to take on cases that present issues at the highest level. He maintains familiarity with developments in both state jurisprudence and federal law.

Today he practices at Semanoff Ormsby Greenbery & Torchia, LLC. He works on matters that arise under Pennsylvania law and on cases that may have federal implications, calling on his admissions and long experience in court proceedings. His current practice centers on representing clients in Pennsylvania courts and in federal matters where his credentials allow representation before higher tribunals.
