About Charles
Charles Clas earned his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2014. He finished at a time when the legal market was shifting and new lawyers were finding inventive ways to establish themselves. Law school left him with a foundation in legal research, writing and courtroom procedure. It also provided the network he would rely on as he moved into practice.
Early in his career Clas moved into firm practice. He built experience handling client matters that required careful factual development and attention to procedure. He developed steady habits of preparing pleadings, managing discovery and briefing dispositive motions. His work required frequent contact with clients, courts and opposing counsel, and he learned to keep complex files organized and deadlines met.
Over time Clas took on increasingly responsible assignments. He has handled courtroom appearances and settlement discussions. He has worked on matters that demanded both a command of legal rules and the ability to present a case clearly to judges and juries. Colleagues describe him as someone who takes a pragmatic view of disputes, weighing potential outcomes and costs before advising clients on next steps.
At Caplan & Tamburino Clas continues that practical approach. He is based in the firm’s office and participates in client representation across a range of matters. His day-to-day work includes drafting briefs, preparing witnesses, and negotiating resolutions when that path makes sense for clients. He balances litigation preparation with efforts to resolve disputes short of trial when doing so serves a client’s interest.
Outside the courtroom, Clas keeps current on changing precedent and procedure. He reads new opinions and follows developments that affect clients’ legal positions. That attention to detail shows up in the files he manages and the courtroom work he produces.
People who work with Clas say he is methodical in his preparation and direct in his communications. He is steady under pressure and attentive to the practical side of litigation. He remains at Caplan & Tamburino, where his current practice centers on client representation and litigation matters at the firm.
