About Carter

Carter Scott built a path from Dartmouth College to the Florida benchrooms in a concise stretch of years. He completed his A.B. at Dartmouth in 2011 and earned his J.D. from Florida State University College of Law in 2014. Those academic stops shaped the legal thinking he would bring to trial work in Tallahassee.

He began practicing in the Tallahassee area soon after law school. In 2015 he joined Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley PA as a personal injury attorney. That early period established him in casework that required frequent court appearances, depositions and client contact. His professional memberships reflect that courtroom orientation: he belongs to the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the American Association for Justice and the Florida Justice Association. He is also a member of the Tallahassee Bar Association, the Capital City Justice Association and the Dartmouth Lawyers Association.

Scott is licensed to practice in Florida and has spent the bulk of his career representing people who have been injured. He handles contested claims and settlement negotiations. He also prepares files for trial and has experience in jury work. His caseload has involved the kinds of matters that commonly come before plaintiff-side counsel, including motor vehicle collisions and other serious personal injuries.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparation and direct in courtroom presentations. He approaches evidence and witness preparation with detailed written work and routine tactical planning. That approach helps in litigation settings where deadlines and procedural hurdles matter as much as the facts of the case.

Outside the courtroom he remains engaged with professional groups that support trial lawyers. His memberships include organizations that recognize high-dollar verdicts and settlements as well as local and statewide bar associations. He also maintains ties to his undergraduate alumni network through the Dartmouth Lawyers Association.

He practices out of the Tallahassee office of Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley. His current practice handles personal injury matters for clients across Florida.
