About Carey

Carey Thompson trained first as a musician and then as a lawyer. She earned a Bachelor of Music from Michigan State University in 1997 and continued her studies at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2005. The path from conservatory to courtroom gave her an unusual combination of discipline and detail-orientation. Those traits show up in how she built her legal career.

Thompson began working in law soon after law school. In 2006 she served as a clerk at Boehme & Moore, LLP, handling research and drafting for litigation matters. The following year she took a position as a grand jury intern with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s office, where she gained courtroom exposure and a firsthand look at prosecutorial procedures. In 2008 she joined Coats & Todd, PC as a lawyer, expanding her practice responsibilities and representing clients in civil matters.

In 2011 Thompson opened the Law Office of Carey Thompson, PC. She has run that firm since then. The office allowed her to take on a wider range of cases and manage the business side of practice. Over time she settled into a pattern of client work that reflects her earlier litigation and public service experience. Her practice involves client counseling, case preparation, and courtroom appearances.

Thompson holds a current membership in the State Bar of Texas. That professional affiliation has kept her connected to developments in Texas law and court practice. Colleagues describe her work as methodical: she breaks complex problems into manageable parts and prepares each element before moving forward. Her background in both a private firm and a public prosecutor’s office informs how she approaches evidence and advocacy.

Her courtroom experience, gained during the grand jury internship and subsequent litigation roles, remains a practical foundation for her practice. She handles pleadings, discovery, and trial preparation, and she represents clients in hearings and trials when required. The Law Office of Carey Thompson, PC operates as a small firm that concentrates on client service and direct attorney involvement in each file.

Thompson’s career reflects steady progress from clerkships and internships to firm work and then to managing her own practice. She continues to work in Texas and maintains active involvement in the State Bar of Texas. She now focuses her practice on litigation and client representation through the Law Office of Carey Thompson, PC.
