About Brian W

Brian W Moore combines government experience, classroom work and private practice in a career that spans more than three decades. He holds an LL.M. in Tax from the University of Alabama School of Law (2011) and a J.D. from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University (1989). He also earned both a Master of Public Administration and a B.S. in Government from Auburn University at Montgomery.

His early public service included a stint as a commissioner at the Alabama Medicaid Agency in 1986. That role placed him inside state government during a period of regulatory change and gave him direct exposure to program administration and compliance issues. He moved into private practice in the years that followed, founding Brian W. Moore, P.C. in 1993.

Over time Moore held a series of firm roles and partnerships. He joined Chambless - Math, P.C. as a partner in 1996 and later became a partner at Azar, Azar & Moore, LLC in 2005. In 2009 he established the Law Office of Brian W Moore LLC, which remains his primary practice vehicle. Alongside his practice he spent time in academia as an adjunct instructor, teaching at Auburn University at Montgomery in 1995 and at Faulkner University’s law school in 1999.

Moore’s credentials include admission to the Alabama bar and to several federal courts. He holds membership in the Alabama State Bar and the Montgomery County Bar Association since 1990, and he is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Northern Districts of Alabama as well as the U.S. Supreme Court. He has kept ties to national professional groups, including ongoing membership in the American Bar Association and a past affiliation with the American Immigration Lawyers Association from 2005 to 2007.

His formal tax training — the LL.M. in Tax — figures into the kind of matters he takes on. His background in public administration and his work with the Medicaid agency inform cases that involve government programs and regulatory questions. Over the years his practice portfolio has included state and federal litigation, regulatory counseling and tax-related issues, often requiring navigation of both court procedure and complex substantive law.

Moore practices from his Montgomery office and continues to handle matters that draw on his tax training, federal court experience and background in government program administration. His current practice concentrates on tax law, federal-court work and matters involving government programs.
