About Brian M.
Brian M. Worstell took a direct path into law after completing his undergraduate degree at Milligan College in 2004. He earned his J.D. from Mercer University in 2008. Those years in school set the stage for a career spent working in state courts across the Southeast.
After law school he entered practice in the region where he grew his courtroom experience. He is admitted to practice in both Georgia and Alabama. His resume lists Philips Branch & Hodges as his current firm association, where he serves as an attorney working on matters that bring him before judges and juries in the two states.
Worstell has maintained steady involvement in bar organizations since the start of his career. He is a member of the Georgia State Bar and the Alabama State Bar. Locally, he has been active in the Columbus, Georgia Bar Association and the Columbus Young Lawyers Division since 2009. He also joined the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association in 2008 and continues that membership today. Those ties reflect ongoing engagement with peers and the trial bar.
His practice centers on courtroom representation and litigation. He handles matters that require preparation for trial, filings in state courts, and client advocacy through dispute resolution processes. Colleagues and opposing counsel encounter him primarily in litigation settings, where procedural strategy and trial preparation are frequent components of the work.
At Philips Branch & Hodges Worstell combines trial experience with routine case management. He works on litigation across Georgia and Alabama, moving cases from initial motions through trial when necessary. His daily work involves drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, and preparing witnesses. He also appears regularly in state court proceedings.
Outside of courthouse obligations he keeps connections to professional networks through the bar associations that have been part of his career since the late 2000s. Those memberships provide resources and a forum for continuing legal education. He concentrates his practice on litigation and trial work in Georgia and Alabama.
