About Benjamin Douglas
Benjamin Douglas Strahm earned a B.A. in Political Science from Indiana University Bloomington in 2005 and a J.D. from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2009, where he studied litigation. He moved quickly from the classroom to the courtroom. His early training combined academic work and practical exposure to trial practice.
After law school he joined the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office as a deputy prosecuting lawyer in 2009. In that role he handled courtroom responsibilities and case preparation that shaped his approach to criminal matters. Those years established a foundation in trial procedure and evidence handling that he later drew on in both civilian and military practice.
Strahm has served in the Indiana Army National Guard. He was a Major (O-4) and served as Chief of Military Justice for the 38th Infantry Division in 2011. That position placed him at the intersection of military law and operational requirements. He dealt with military justice processes and the particular rules that govern service members, adding a distinct dimension to his legal experience.
By 2015 he worked in private practice as an associate attorney, including positions at Mark K. Sullivan & Associates, P.C., and at Mitchell Law Group. Those years broadened his litigation work and client representation outside the public sector. He handled a range of matters that required courtroom poise and attention to procedural detail.
Strahm is certified as a Guardian ad Litem through the Hamilton County GAL/CASA Program. That certification indicates experience serving on behalf of children or vulnerable parties in court proceedings. It is a role that requires both legal knowledge and an ability to assess factual and family dynamics in contested settings.
He is admitted to practice in Indiana and before the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. His combined civilian, prosecutorial and military background informs how he approaches case strategy. He has worked across public defense, prosecution, military justice, and guardianship-related matters.
He is currently an attorney at Avnet Law. He currently practices at Avnet Law, where he handles criminal defense, military justice, and guardianship matters.
