About Bart
Bart Torvik earned his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1999 and his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2003. He moved into judicial service immediately after law school, spending a term as a law clerk to the Honorable James M. Rosenbaum. That early courtroom exposure shaped the practical side of his legal training.
After his clerkship, Torvik joined Dorsey & Whitney LLP as an associate in 2005. His time there gave him experience in firm practice and client work. In 2010 he shifted from private practice to in-house work and served as general counsel for Indie Energy Systems Co., LLC, handling legal matters for a company in the energy sector. The next year he formed Torvik Law LLC, where he acted as managing member and ran a small practice that combined aspects of corporate counsel work and litigation.
In 2019 Torvik joined OFT Food Safety & Injury Lawyers as a lawyer. That step returned him to a plaintiff-oriented practice after years that included both firm and in-house roles. Over the course of his career he has worked across matters that required litigation know-how, contract analysis, and regulatory attention. He has maintained admissions in Illinois and Minnesota and is also admitted to practice before the Federal Circuit, permitting him to handle certain appeals and federal matters.
Colleagues describe Torvik as methodical in case preparation and straightforward in court. He applies his prior in-house perspective to client counseling, which can help when technical or regulatory issues are part of the legal picture. His background in energy company counsel work informs how he approaches regulatory and compliance questions; his time at a large firm contributed to his handling of litigation logistics.
Today Torvik is based at OFT Food Safety & Injury Lawyers, where he works on matters arising from foodborne illness and other injury claims. He combines trial experience, in-house counsel perspective, and several years running his own practice. His practice focuses on food safety and injury matters, and he represents clients in state and federal proceedings.
