About Anthony
Anthony Grostyan studied criminology at the University of Minnesota, earning a B.A. in 1998. He went on to complete his J.D. at William Mitchell College of Law in 2001. Those years set the tone for a practice shaped by courtroom work and criminal law study.
He launched Grostyan Law, PLC in 2001. The firm began as a small practice handling criminal matters and has remained under his leadership since its founding. He has handled cases at the state and federal level and built a practice around trial work and client representation in contested matters.
Grostyan is licensed to practice in Minnesota and California and admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. That mix of state and federal credentials means he appears in a range of forums. He represents people facing state criminal charges, federal prosecutions and driving-under-the-influence matters. He approaches each file with an eye toward evidence, procedure and the options available at every stage of a case.
His professional memberships reflect a courtroom orientation. He holds active memberships in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Minnesota Society for Criminal Justice. Since 2021 he has been a member of the California DUI Lawyers Association. Those affiliations connect him to peers across jurisdictions and to continuing legal education tailored to criminal defense and impaired-driving law.
Colleagues describe him as pragmatic at trial and persistent in pretrial work. Clients come to him for contested hearings, plea negotiations and post-conviction matters. He handles investigations, motions and jury trials, and he spends time preparing witnesses and experts when cases call for it. He has experience managing the procedural demands of both state court and federal practice.
Outside the courtroom he remains involved in professional circles and legal education through association events and seminars. He maintains the office at Grostyan Law, PLC and supervises the practice’s casework. His calendar still includes trials, and he remains an active courtroom lawyer.
He continues to practice criminal defense and DUI law across state and federal courts, based at Grostyan Law, PLC and licensed in Minnesota and California.
