About Anna
Anna Tobia built a legal foundation that mixes classroom study with courtroom exposure. She studied Law and Society at Winona State University and went on to earn her law degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Those years shaped her understanding of how law and community interact.
She entered practical training in public defense work. As a Certified Student Lawyer at the Washington County Public Defender's Office, she handled client contact, case preparation, and courtroom hearings under supervision. She followed that experience with a law clerk position at the Dakota County Public Defender's Office where she supported trial teams and helped draft pleadings and motions.
Tobia also spent time inside the judicial system. She served as a law clerk to the Honorable Steven R. Schwab of the Freeborn County District Court in Albert Lea. That role exposed her to the judicial decision-making process, courtroom procedure, and the management of civil and criminal dockets. Working for a sitting district court judge offered a different vantage point from the advocate's seat and informed her view of case evaluation and evidence presentation.
Her background touches on several practical aspects of trial work: client interviewing, motion practice, hearing preparation, and courtroom advocacy. Those experiences give her familiarity with criminal defense practice and court procedure. She maintains current professional memberships and continues to stay involved in legal circles that intersect public defense and trial practice.
Tobia now practices at Groshek Law PA. At the firm she draws on prior public defender and clerkship work to handle matters that require close attention to process and the realities of courtroom practice. She is based at Groshek Law PA and engages in trial-level work and case preparation. Her current practice focuses on criminal defense and courtroom procedure.
