About Jean Paul
Jean Paul Agustin is an attorney admitted to practice in Minnesota. He earned his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2014 after completing law studies that began in 2011. The combination of a public law school education and early work in access-to-justice programs shaped his approach to practice.
Fresh out of law school in 2014, Agustin served as a law clerk to Referee Madden for the Minnesota Judicial Branch. That role put him inside the courthouse day to day. He handled research, drafted memoranda, and observed adjudication at close range. The same year he also worked as a Bridge Fellow at Legal Services of North Florida, where he encountered the challenges facing low-income clients and the practical realities of civil legal aid.
After his public-sector and pro bono oriented work, Agustin moved into private practice. In 2016 he joined Burns & Hansen as an associate. Three years later he was listed as an associate at Meagher & Geer in 2019. Those years in firm settings exposed him to client counseling, motions practice, and trial preparation. He has experience moving between courtrooms and client conferences, and between legal aid contexts and law firm environments.
Colleagues describe Agustin as methodical and steady. He tends to break complex problems down into concrete steps. That style served him well whether drafting bench memoranda or preparing pleadings. His background gives him familiarity with procedural mechanics in Minnesota courts and with issues that commonly arise for individuals pursuing civil claims or defense work.
Agustin is based in Minnesota and maintains an office at Burns & Hansen, P.A. There he continues to combine litigation experience and courtroom familiarity with practical client work. He practices at Burns & Hansen, P.A., handling matters brought in Minnesota state courts.
