About Angela

Angela Henderson is a dedicated family law attorney practicing at Henderson & Mehta Law and Mediation Center, located at 23 W. Jefferson Street in Joliet, Illinois. Admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1997, she has built a robust career focused on divorce and family law matters. The firm specializes in mediation and Guardian ad Litem services — This gives comprehensive support during challenging family transitions. Henderson earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from DePaul University College of Law in 1994. While in law school, she actively participated in the mediation clinic, completing two semesters of mediation training.

This early exposure to mediation laid the foundation for her future practice. Additionally, she worked by working as a family lawyer through Chicago Volunteer Legal Services under a 711 license. This lets the attorney represent clients while still in law school. Before establishing her practice in Joliet, Henderson worked as a family attorney in Hinsdale and Lemont. After nine years, she made the strategic decision to concentrate her efforts in one county, which led to the creation of her current office in Joliet. Her practice continues to focus on family law issues, including her roles as a Guardian ad Litem and mediator, helping families navigate complex legal fields.

Prior to her legal career, Henderson had a successful business background. She owned and operated four office supply stores, a Hallmark store, and two travel agencies. This experience has proven invaluable in understanding income streams and business valuation issues—critical components in many family law cases. Her business acumen complements her legal expertise — This lets the attorney provide clients with well-rounded advice. Henderson is deeply committed to community service. She has served two terms as president of the Lemont Chamber of Commerce and has taught Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) through Downers Township Human Services.

Additionally, she has held the position of PTA vice-president and was a presenter at the Illinois State Police Juvenile Division Conference on Youth. Currently, she coaches the mediation team at Lewis University, where her team has received regional and national awards, including a special invitation to compete in Liverpool, England, this past November. Her dedication to professional development is evident as she regularly attends local and national seminars, including the AFCC Symposium on Child Custody Evaluations in New Mexico and the International ADR Society Congress in Iowa. She also serves as chair of the Guardian ad Litem Committee of the Will County Bar Association, further demonstrating her commitment to the field of family law and the welfare of children.
