About Andrew
Andrew Wilson studied at Saint Olaf College before earning his law degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. He built a foundation in liberal arts and legal training that informs his work in Minnesota courts. That combination of classroom study and practical training shapes how he approaches cases and communicates with clients.
He began his criminal defense practice as an associate at Halberg Criminal Defense in 2015. There he handled a steady caseload of misdemeanor and felony matters and gained courtroom experience through hearings and trials. Colleagues from that period describe him as methodical in preparing motions and attentive to case details.
In 2019 he moved into a leadership role as Managing Lawyer at Wilson Criminal Defense. The title reflected both a casework load and supervisory responsibilities. He oversaw case strategy, supervised junior attorneys and coordinated with investigators and expert witnesses. The work broadened his perspective on firm operations and on the practical needs of clients facing criminal charges.
Wilson is licensed to practice in Minnesota and has spent his career defending clients in state courts. He maintains current professional association membership and participates in local legal events. He has handled matters across the spectrum of criminal practice, including pretrial motion work, plea negotiations and trial preparation. He approaches each matter by prioritizing factual development and careful legal analysis.
Today he is part of the team at Wilson & Clas. At that firm he continues to represent individuals charged in state criminal cases, balancing trial advocacy with efforts to resolve cases when appropriate. Peers note that his experience supervising teams and managing files helps keep complex matters organized. He draws on his courtroom experience and his earlier role supervising defense practice when mentoring less experienced attorneys.
Outside the courtroom he is known for explaining difficult legal concepts in plain terms. Clients and colleagues say he makes clear what to expect at each stage of a case. He remains based in Minnesota and spends his practice time on criminal defense work in state courts.
He currently practices at Wilson & Clas, representing clients in state criminal matters in Minnesota.
