About Andre
Andre Sedlak built a career that crosses public service and private practice. He earned his Juris Doctor from Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University in 2012 after completing a Bachelor of Science in Business at Mercy College in 2007. Those credentials prefaced a steady move into courtroom and client work.
Early in law school he served as a legal extern at The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office and at Legal Services of the Hudson Valley in 2011. Those placements exposed him to prosecution work and to civil legal aid. After graduation he joined KVA Lawfirm in Poughkeepsie as an associate in 2013. He spent that time developing litigation skills and learning the routine of a regional firm.
Before he became an attorney, Sedlak spent part of his career in corrections. In 1984 he worked for the New York State Department of Corrections as a corrections officer and later as a correction sergeant. That experience shaped his understanding of the criminal justice system and the realities faced by people involved in it.
In 2015 he opened the Law Office of Andre Sedlak. He runs that office as a sole practitioner. The practice handles matters filed in New York and in the Federal Circuit, reflecting his admitted jurisdictions. He is active in several professional groups, including the New York State Bar Association, the Dutchess County Bar Association and the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He also holds memberships in Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Beta Gamma, both business honor societies.
Sedlak’s background blends courtroom exposure, public-sector work and private practice. In his work he draws on experience from both prosecution-side and defense-side environments. He has represented clients in state and federal matters and he continues to appear in courts across New York and at the Federal Circuit level when cases require it.
Colleagues describe him as an attorney who is familiar with the practical demands of litigation and the constraints of correctional institutions. He keeps his practice small and hands-on, handling client intake, motions, and hearings personally. His memberships in local and statewide bar groups keep him connected to developments in criminal law and procedure.
He maintains the Law Office of Andre Sedlak and handles litigation and courtroom matters in New York and the Federal Circuit as part of his current practice focus.
