About Alexa J.

Alexa J. Kwartin studied English and economics at Emory University, graduating in 2004. She went on to earn a J.D. from the University of Florida in 2008, where she studied family law. Her academic background blends liberal arts and quantitative training, a combination she has used throughout her legal career.

After law school, Kwartin built a practice centered on family law. Over the years she has represented clients in a broad range of domestic relations matters. Her work has included contested and uncontested divorces, child custody and visitation disputes, issues of child and spousal support, and the division of marital assets. She has handled cases that required negotiation at the bargaining table and advocacy in the courtroom.

Her interest in professional development within the bar led her to take on a leadership role in the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers. Since 2015 she has served as the organization’s vice president of mentoring. In that post she has worked on programming aimed at early-career attorneys and pairings that connect newer lawyers with more experienced practitioners. The role has kept her involved in the local legal community and in conversations about ethics, practice management, and career advancement for women in law.

Kwartin’s practice style tends toward practical problem solving. She prepares thoroughly for hearings and trials, but she also pursues negotiated solutions where feasible. That pragmatism is reflected in her case work, which often requires balancing immediate client needs—such as custody arrangements—with long-term financial planning. She has worked with forensic accountants and parenting professionals when cases presented complex financial or custody questions.

She works at Kwartin & Levine, LLP, a firm that handles family law matters among other private practice work. Within the firm she collaborates with colleagues on strategy and client counseling. Her caseload includes both litigated matters and those resolved through mediation or collaborative law processes. She also remains active in mentoring younger lawyers through GAWL and other local bar events.

Kwartin lives by a straightforward professional ethic: prepare thoroughly, explain options clearly, and pursue the outcome that best serves the client’s long-term interests. She currently practices family law at Kwartin & Levine, LLP.
