Alan Irwin Schimmel is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1981. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Schimmel is the founder and managing partner of Schimmel & Parks, APLC, a civil litigation firm located in Sherman Oaks, California. He has been practicing law for over four decades, serving clients throughout Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties.
Mr. Schimmel earned his Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1981. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Los Angeles, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude in 1978. During his time at UCLA, he was recognized for his academic excellence.
Mr. Schimmel concentrates his practice in the areas of civil litigation, focusing on cases involving bad faith insurance, property damage, employment law, homeowners associations, and construction defects. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving insurance disputes, workplace discrimination, wrongful termination, and construction-related issues. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Schimmel has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Century City for five years.
Mr. Schimmel is an active member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He holds membership in the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles. He is also a certified mediator through the Los Angeles County Superior Court mediation program. Mr. Schimmel is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of Los Angeles County effectively.
