About Jon O.

Jon O. Markarian studied liberal arts and the foundations of law at the University of California, Santa Barbara before earning his law degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. His academic path combined a broad undergraduate education with professional training that prepared him for practice in both state and federal courts. He later pursued specialized study in international and comparative law through a program affiliated with King's College at the University of London and USD Law School.

That additional certification broadened his exposure to transnational legal issues and comparative legal systems. It complemented his U.S.-based legal education and helped shape a practice that operates across different jurisdictions. He has built a practice that recognizes how state rules and federal procedures interact, particularly when litigation crosses state lines or moves into appellate review.

Markarian is admitted to practice in California and the District of Columbia, and he is admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Those credentials allow him to represent clients in matters that arise under both state and federal law, and to pursue appeals at the federal circuit level when appropriate. He maintains offices in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., and manages clients and matters through both locations.

Throughout his career he has worked on cases and projects that require careful attention to procedural posture and legal strategy across venues. He handles filings, oral advocacy, and the coordination of litigation that may involve multiple courts. His background includes navigating differences between state court practice in California and federal practice in D.C., an experience that informs how he prepares cases and advises clients.

At the Markarian Law Office he splits time between the Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. offices. That structure allows him to serve clients who need representation on the West Coast as well as those who require access to federal agencies, appellate courts, or counsel in the nation’s capital. He participates in the routine demands of litigation and counsel work, from drafting pleadings and briefs to attending hearings.

He continues to maintain professional ties to both jurisdictions and to apply his training in international and comparative law when cases raise cross-border or comparative issues. He currently practices at Markarian Law Office, where his work centers on matters that implicate both state and federal law across California and the District of Columbia.
