About William
William Wirkus built his path to law from the classrooms of La Crosse to courtrooms across Wisconsin. He earned a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse in 2008 and completed his J.D. at Ave Maria School of Law in 2011. Those years set a steady rhythm: study, practice, and a move into public service that would shape later work.
He joined the Wisconsin State Bar in 2011 and has remained an active member. Early in his career he worked at Doughty, Alcaraz & DeGraauw P.A., taking on a range of matters typical of a small firm practice. That hands-on experience in 2012 gave him exposure to litigation and client counseling. A few years later he moved into a role in election administration for the State of Wisconsin in 2017. That stint placed him inside the machinery of public elections at a time when election processes were receiving heightened attention.
By 2019 Wirkus returned to private practice as a lawyer with Walden, Neitzke & Kuhary, S.C. His record shows work both in private firm settings and in government office. He is admitted to practice before the Wisconsin courts and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He is also a notary public certified by the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions.
Colleagues describe him as a practical lawyer who adapts to the task at hand. His career moves reflect an interest in both the procedural side of law and its on-the-ground application. The mix of government service and firm work means he knows the formal rules and the everyday demands clients face when cases move through administrative and judicial channels.
Outside of court filings and client meetings, his professional affiliations are straightforward. He maintains his standing with the Wisconsin State Bar and keeps connections in the legal community that support both litigation and administrative work.
Wirkus continues to practice in Wisconsin. He concentrates on civil litigation and election administration matters in the state.
