About William
William Sinclair built a steady legal path from coastal California to the nation's highest courts. He earned a B.A. from the University of California - San Diego in 1999 and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2002. Those credentials set the foundation for a career spent largely in litigation at both trial and appellate levels.
He serves as a partner at Silverman Thompson. Over the years he has pursued admission to a wide range of courts. Those admissions include several federal appellate courts—the Ninth, Eleventh and Fourth Circuits—and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is also admitted in state bars including California, Georgia and Maryland, and appears in numerous federal district courts across multiple districts, such as the Northern District of California, the Central and Southern Districts of California, the Northern District of Georgia and the District of Maryland. In short, his practice spans trial dockets and appellate calendars.
Sinclair’s professional affiliations reflect a practice that crosses state lines. He holds current memberships in the State Bar of California and the District of Columbia Bar. He is also a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Maryland State Bar Association. Locally, he participates in the Bar Association for Baltimore City and the Baltimore County Bar Association. He maintains membership in the American Bar Association as well.
Colleagues describe him as someone who moves deliberately through litigation. He handles filings, argues motions and takes appeals when cases require it. He works in courts of first instance and in appellate courts. He has experience navigating procedural rules at both levels and managing the different demands that trials and appeals impose.
His courtroom work has required frequent interaction with judges and opposing counsel across jurisdictions. That familiarity serves him when cases cross geographic lines or when a matter proceeds from a district court to an appellate panel. The range of admissions allows him to represent clients in state and federal forums and to present cases before multiple federal courts.
Outside court rooms his practice involves case preparation, briefing and strategic planning. He and his team at Silverman Thompson handle the practical steps that move cases toward resolution, whether by trial, settlement or appeal. He is based at Silverman Thompson and continues to practice across the jurisdictions to which he is admitted.
He currently practices as a partner at Silverman Thompson, representing clients in federal and state litigation and appellate matters across multiple jurisdictions.
