About William Randall

William Randall Phipps is a seasoned family law attorney based in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. With over four decades of experience, he has dedicated his practice exclusively to family law and divorce cases. He was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1982 and has been serving clients in the state ever since. His firm, Phipps Family Law, operates statewide, with offices in Hilton Head Island and Newberry, South Carolina. Mr. Phipps earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1982. Prior to his legal career, he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, cum laude, at the University of South Carolina in 1978. During his undergraduate years, he was a standout swimmer, setting a school record and earning all-conference honors in his senior year.

His commitment to public service is evident from his military service; he was commissioned as an ensign in the United States Naval Reserve, Judge Advocate General Corps, in 1981. After law school, he served on active duty until 1989, stationed at Naval Stations in San Diego, California, and Charleston, South Carolina. He retired as a Commander in 2006 after continuing his service in the Naval Reserve. Throughout his career, Mr. Phipps has been deeply involved in professional organizations. He served on the Family Law Section Counsel of the South Carolina Bar from 1995 through 2008, holding positions as Chair Elect (1999/2000), Chairman (2000/2001), and Past Chair (2001/2002). He was also the President of the Beaufort County Bar Association from 1999 to 2000. His expertise has been recognized with an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and he has been a speaker at 25 Continuing Legal Education seminars over the past 22 years.

Additionally, he served on the Board of Editors for three different South Carolina family law publications. Mr. Phipps's practice encompasses many family law matters, including divorce, equitable distribution, custody, visitation, alimony, child support, separate maintenance. Prenuptial agreements.
