About William Kash Stilz

William Kash Stilz Jr. earned his law degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University in 2002 after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Kentucky, where he received a B.B.A. in 1998. He entered the legal profession in the early 2000s and has maintained an active presence in courts and bar associations across the region since then.

Early in his career he built a practice that crosses state lines. He is admitted to practice in Kentucky and Ohio, and he holds admissions to the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Those credentials have allowed him to handle matters in both trial and appellate forums. His membership in the Kentucky Bar Association dates to 2003, and he joined the Kentucky Justice Association the year before.

Stilz’s professional affiliations reflect the mix of work he handles. He has been active in the American Association for Justice and the Ohio Association for Justice since 2007. He is also a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association, joining that organization in 2006, and he has maintained membership in the Kentucky Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2009. Those ties place him among attorneys who litigate employment and civil justice matters as well as those who take on criminal defense work.

Over time his practice developed a dual emphasis. He represents clients in employment-related disputes and civil litigation, and he also takes criminal defense cases in state courts. The mix requires switching between trial strategies and appellate preparation. Admitting briefs and oral argument in higher courts has become part of his caseload when matters proceed beyond trial.

Colleagues describe him as an attorney accustomed to both plaintiff-side civil suits and criminal matters, able to move cases through trial and into appeals when necessary. He has handled cases that involve complex procedural questions alongside straightforward fact disputes. He combines courtroom work with case development outside of court, preparing pleadings and orders and managing discovery.

Today he maintains an active practice that serves clients in Kentucky and Ohio. He continues to take matters in state and federal courts, including appellate work in the Sixth Circuit and filings in the national courts for matters that require it. He currently practices in employment law, civil litigation and criminal defense.
